
With the kickoff of the 2024 Collegiate baseball season behind us we want to recognize a few of our GRB STiKS alumni weekly as we continue to follow their journey throughout the season. So far in the early season 52 STiKS Alumni have seen action across all levels with many more expected to see the field as the NCAA D3 and Junior College seasons are ramping up. As a way to recognize our alumni we will be selecting an Offensive Player of the Week, Pitcher of the Week and a Freshman of the Week.
Pitcher of the Week:
Carson Fluno: University of Louisiana Lafayette
Carson tossed 5 innings of 1 hit ball against Rice over the weekend earning himself the win on the mound. In his 5 innings of work he allowed 1 hit, 0 runs punching out 6 and didn’t walk a batter.
Offensive Player of the Week:
Owen Washburn: Texas Tech
The Tech junior hit a pair of homeruns in a victory over Texas Southern. For the weekend Owen went 5 for 14 including 5 runs scored and 7 RBI’s. Owen is now hitting .423 for the season.
Freshman of the Week:
Ethan Brown: Dartmouth
Ethan started his collegiate career off with a solid opening weekend going 3 for 9 with 3 doubles and 2 RBI in a weekend series at Sam Houston State.
Honorable Mention:
Pitcher: Rory Fox – Notre Dame: 2ip, 0 hits, 0 runs and 2 strikeouts against Florida International
Offensive: Dylan Nevar – Western Michigan: 4 for 15, 4 runs scored, 6 RBI, 1 double and a 4 game sweep of Pepperdine.
Freshman: Adam Switalski – Lipscomb University: In 2 appearances last week vs Xavier and Western Kentucky Adam threw 1.1 innings giving up 2 hits, 0 runs while striking out 4.
